The idea is that by using slight distortions in the VR landscape, you see, the creator of a world can trick you and your consciousness into believing you’re walking for miles, whereas in reality, you’re walking in circles in a small room.
That’s a fantastic technique for doing VR with all the physical elements of the real world. But it is also a reminder of why we need data in decision-making: Just as with redirected walking, there’s redirected thinking. But unlike in VR, our biases dictate where we end up.
You might think you’re constantly making steps and incremental improvements, but without data, you might end up where you started.
