Feature requests are weird beasts. From the outside they look like a solution request like “I want this tool to also be available in green.”
But hidden inside, often is a problem. Because let’s face it, no one wants more tools; we want fewer problems.
Good product managers look past the feature request and uncover the problem. They prioritize which problem to solve because two problems might be solved by one tool. Or none at all.
One problem might be a lot bigger or smaller than one individual requester makes it appear to be.
